Following the success of its traffic app for iPhone and Android platforms, RAC has now developed versions for Symbian and Windows® Phone owners.
The progressive apps identify the user’s location to give an immediate view of traffic in the vicinity by showing the start and end points of congestion overlaid onto maps. Text summaries of traffic conditions are also available.
The Windows Phone app also includes Live Tile functionality allowing users to see traffic conditions at a glance on a predefined route and they can choose between displaying incidents and delays or planned roadworks and events.
This level of detail will give motorists a precise and accurate view of live traffic conditions on the UK’s roads. RAC’s apps utilise up-to-the-minute traffic updates from several sources including real-time vehicle data.
RAC has a long history in helping drivers plan their journeys. Its Route Planner and Traffic and Travel News tools on its website, www.rac.co.uk, receive over 2 million unique visitors every month.
