2023 – The Drivers

We’re nearly there, the start of the F1 2023 Championship. Here’s a breakdown of the teams and drivers for this season.

Red Bull

Red Bull Racing is gearing up for another exciting season in 2023! The team had a spectacular run in 2022, dominating the competition and setting the bar high for the upcoming season.

Max Verstappen, the reigning champion, will be aiming for a hat-trick of titles in 2023. With his impressive driving skills and unwavering determination, he is expected to be one of the top contenders for the championship.

Joining Verstappen on the Red Bull Racing team is Sergio Perez, who made a strong impact in his debut season with the team in 2022, securing two wins. The Mexican driver is determined to better his performance in 2023 and prove that he is a force to be reckoned with on the track.

Red Bull Racing has been making waves in the Formula One world, and 2023 promises to be no different. With Verstappen and Perez leading the charge, the team is poised for another successful season.

Ferrari

Ferrari is sticking to a tried and true formula as they head into the 2023 season with the same driver line-up for a third consecutive year. In 2022, Ferrari got off to a strong start before their challenge faded, but they still have two talented drivers in their ranks.

Carlos Sainz added a win to his impressive record at the 2022 Silverstone Grand Prix, solidifying his status as a proven race winner. Meanwhile, Charles Leclerc, who has been with Ferrari since 2019, has made it clear that he intends to be in the running for the championship again in 2023.

The question on everyone’s mind is whether Ferrari will be able to deliver another race-winning car in 2023. The team has been working tirelessly to improve their performance and close the gap with the frontrunners. With Sainz and Leclerc at the wheel, Ferrari is a team to watch out for in the upcoming season.

Stay tuned for more updates as the 2023 season approaches, and find out if Ferrari can deliver the goods and make a comeback in the championship race.

Mercedes

Mercedes are ready to make a comeback in 2023 after a disappointing season in 2022. The team will continue with the same driver line-up, as they aim to bounce back and reclaim their position at the top of the grid.

Lewis Hamilton, the seven-time world champion, had a challenging year in 2022 as he failed to secure either a pole or a victory, which was a first in his illustrious career. However, Mercedes has high hopes for George Russell, who proved his mettle in 2022 with a pole and a win. Russell is well-placed to build on his experience in 2023 and continue his rise in the sport.

Mercedes has been a dominant force in Formula One for many years, and the team is determined to reclaim its place at the top of the standings in 2023. With Hamilton and Russell leading the charge, the Silver Arrows are ready to take on the competition and make a comeback in the championship race.

Alpine

Alpine is set for an exciting season in 2023 with an all-French driver line-up of Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon. Alonso has moved on to new opportunities, leaving Gasly to take his seat at Alpine and join forces with Ocon.

Both drivers bring with them a wealth of experience and talent to the team. Gasly secured a win in 2020, while Ocon won a race in 2018. These two drivers are evenly matched and poised to bring their A-game to the track in 2023. However, Ocon will want to use his prior experience with the team to lead the charge and help Alpine reach its goals for the season.

In 2022, Alpine topped the midfield and the team will be looking to at least maintain that position in 2023. With Gasly and Ocon at the wheel, Alpine is well-positioned to continue their upward trajectory and make a strong impact in the championship race.

McLaren

McLaren is set to embark on a new chapter in 2023 as they welcome rookie F1 driver, Oscar Piastri, to the team alongside Lando Norris, who begins his fifth season with the team. Piastri is a highly sought-after driver and McLaren was able to secure his services over Alpine, demonstrating their commitment to building a strong team for the future.

The team will be looking to fight their way back to the front of the midfield in 2023, with Norris leading the charge. In 2022, Norris was the only driver outside of the big three teams to score a podium, and he’ll be looking for more of those in 2023.

Norris and Piastri have the potential to form a strong partnership and push McLaren to the front of the pack. With a solid team and a talented driver line-up, McLaren is poised to make a strong impact in the championship race in 2023

Alfa Romeo

Alfa Romeo is gearing up for another exciting season in 2023 as they continue with their all-new driver pairing of Valtteri Bottas and Guan Yu Zhou. The team made a strong start in 2022, finishing sixth in the championship, and they’ll be looking to build on that success in 2023.

With Zhou no longer a rookie, he’ll be looking to kick on and match his experienced teammate, Bottas, week in and week out. Bottas brings a wealth of experience to the team, having previously won multiple races and competed for the championship. Meanwhile, Zhou has shown flashes of brilliance in his debut season, and with a year of experience under his belt, he’s poised to make even more of an impact in 2023.

Alfa Romeo will be looking to maintain their position at the front of the midfield in 2023, and with the talented duo of Bottas and Zhou at the wheel, they’re well-positioned to do so.

Aston Martin

Aston Martin is set for a thrilling season in 2023 with the arrival of two-time world champion, Fernando Alonso, to the team. Alonso joins Lance Stroll, who remains at the team, in a driver lineup that has the potential to shake up the field.

Stroll has had the chance to show what he’s capable of in recent years, but with Alonso now in the mix, the Canadian will have to step up his game to keep pace. Alonso is one of the most successful drivers in F1 history, and he’s eager to return to the front of the field. With his wealth of experience and proven track record, he’s a valuable addition to the team.

It remains to be seen if the switch to Aston Martin will help Alonso get back to his winning ways, but the team will certainly be looking to make an impact in 2023.

Haas

Haas is making a statement for the 2023 season with a lineup that boasts experience and talent. Nico Hulkenberg, who sat out the past three seasons, is making a return to full-time F1 driving, joining Kevin Magnussen. The duo is expected to bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to the team, as Haas aims to move up the order and build on the success they had in 2022.

Haas showed marked improvement in the previous season, finishing a respectable eighth in the championship with a pole position to their name. The team is looking to build on that success and make a real push for even better results in 2023.

Hulkenberg and Magnussen are both known for their tenacity and skill, and Haas will be relying on that to help take them to the next level. The 2023 season is shaping up to be a thrilling one for Haas, as they look to make a statement and establish themselves as a serious player in the championship race.

AlphaTauri

AlphaTauri is set for a new chapter in the 2023 season, with Yuki Tsunoda stepping up as the team leader and a rookie in De Vries joining the squad. Tsunoda, in his third season in F1, will be the experienced driver in the team, as Pierre Gasly moves on to Alpine.

De Vries comes with high expectations, having been highly rated from within the Mercedes family. The rookie is expected to bring his own unique skill set and personality to the team, and it will be fascinating to see how he and Tsunoda gel and compete against each other.

AlphaTauri will be looking to bounce back from a slightly disappointing ninth-place finish in the championship and make a real push for improvement in 2023. With two young, talented drivers at the wheel, the team has the potential to cause some surprises on the track.

Williams

Williams is gearing up for the 2023 season with a new-look driver line-up. Alexander Albon, who remains with the team, will be guiding a highly-rated American rookie in Jack Sargeant. Sargeant earned his place on the grid after a standout performance in the F2 championship and has the required number of Super Licence points to compete in Formula 1.

It will be interesting to see how Sargeant adapts to the step up to Formula 1, as he will be under pressure to perform and help Williams avoid propping up the table once more. Albon, with his experience, will be an important mentor for the rookie, and the two drivers will need to work together to help Williams make progress.

The 2023 season will be a crucial one for Williams, as they look to build on the progress made in recent years and establish themselves as a competitive team once more. With Albon and Sargeant at the wheel, the team has the potential to deliver some strong performances on track.
